Decorative Vision BoardCreating a vision board is a great way to help you clarify and focus on the things you want in life. I had been wanting to make one and I finally started. While I was flipping through a magazine for pictures to use, I got this great idea for a neat way to display my vision board that makes it more of an art piece using a frame, fencing wire and mini clothes pins. You can watch my DIY how-to video and instructions on how to make this cool and unique vision board below.

What is a vision board?
A vision board is a collage of images that represent what you want to be, do or have in your life. The images can be of words, places, things-whatever you dream of. Most often the images are put on a large poster board, but they can also be put in a binder or in electronic form or any other creative way you choose to display your vision board.

What is the purpose of a vision board?
The purpose of a vision board is to help you focus and realize your ideal life and to activate the law of attraction. Your mind operates in images. The vision board helps unconsciously move you toward your dreams. Looking at your vision board at least twice a day, your focus on the things you want coupled with action will start to create a better life.

Watch my video about creating a dream board and how I made this really cool design.

It was really easy to make. I found an old frame at a garage sale for a couple of bucks. I had some scrap wire fencing already, but you can find some cheap for just a few bucks at a hardware store or ranch store. I bought the mini clothes pins at Ben Franklin for $1.99 for each bag. I got two sizes.

You want it fairly large to fit all your photos. I found mine at a garage sale for a couple bucks.

You will need to cut the wire fencing large enough so that it overlaps the back side of the frame and can be stapled in place.

I cut it along the wire edge on each side so it didn’t have long wires poking out.

Line up wire to frame

Line up the wire to the frame making it even on all sides.

Staple wire to frame

Staple the wire to the frame being careful to keep the alignment straight. After each staple check to make sure and readjust the alignment.

Here it is finished with the wire stapled on.

I bought these bags of mini clothes pins at Ben Franklin craft store for $1.99 each. The smaller ones are 1 inch and have 50 in a bag. They are good for the smaller images and text cutouts. The larger pins are 1 3/4 inch and have 24 in a bag.

This is a closeup of the top of the vision board. You can see I also added some wall decals that say Wish it…Dream it…Do it. I thought that was a nice little touch.

What is great about this design is it is decorative and can be updated and changed as your vision and goals change. As you find new things to help motivate you print and/or cut them out and just clip them right to your board…easy! It can also be used to display other things like family photos, gratitude or thankful notes, kids artwork that can easily be updated weekly or monthly…you name it!

This is so cool. I think I can get some of the fencing at Home Depot. I think it is their garden section. Here in Las Vegas there isn’t a real big need for wire fencing. It looks like you put a white sheet of poster board on the back. I need to do this so I can remember why I am in business for myself. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Myrna, Thanks for the comment. I like the design because it is really artsy and can be displayed on any room wall and you can easily add new photos at anytime. You can also use it to display other things if you like. I did not put anything as a background it is just the wall showing through, but you could if you wanted. I like it with just the wire. -Marlo

I am creating a family vision board. I have decided to use a floor length magnetic display fixture. It was a free piece I was given from my old job. So my plan is to use colorful or black binder clips, I will buy magnet n glue them to the back so that I can hold items on my board. I’m excited!!! Thanks for being a great template for me and being informative on what a vision board is.
